Meanwhile back in the classrooms: First Graders Explore Fruits

Bringing in fruits seen on BNS Farm  to draw like a scientist...

To paint like a scientist? or an artist? or both?

To eat fruit and harvest seeds ...

To plant harvested seeds...

To make bean seed humus...

Recipe

1 (24-ounce) can cannellini beans
1 lemon, juiced
2  roasted garlic  cloves
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil
Serves 8
• Rinse  and smash beans until smooth.  Add lemon juice, garlic, salt and pepper to taste. Slowly add olive oil and blend until smooth and thick
•  To roast garlic... cut ends ( don’t  peel) and coat with olive oil. Place in oven at 400* for 20 min.

To wonder...

Will these seeds grow?
Does this taste sweet?

Fall Farm Images

First Graders go on a hunt in the farm...to find something green, something yellow...

Something good to eat...

Something pointy...
Entering the spiky room formed by a trellised cucumber vine

But first graders are not the only ones excited by the farm...

Some images at drop off time...

And a few images from recess...

Monarchs are a big draw
