Praying Mantises Emerge from their egg sacks at BNS Farm.  Luckily, Johanna was there to catch their emergence.  Do you hear the hens in the background?  Think they sense a meal nearby?

A Bag of Plants

 A Kindergartener in Musa's and Kojo's Crew found a bag of sunflower seeds.  He insisted on planting them.   He said:  "I found a bag of plants in the ball field. We need to plant them here." 

(No one had the heart to tell him that salted, roasted seeds would not grow.)

Update:  Since planting the seeds, first grade farmers planted viable sunflower seeds nearby.   Uh Oh!  When will he ever learn? (Next year for sure!)

Fifth Graders Three Sisters Gardens

Be Sustainable...

Fifth Graders needed a 1/2 gallon container of soil for exploring Maya water and soil management techniques.  What's a sustainable reuse for the container and the soil? Why:  A Three Sisters Mini-Garden!  (Johanna's inspiration.)  

Now on to transplanting...Heard corn and beans don't enjoy their roots being disturbed.  Will update.
