Three Sisters Garden at BNS

Several beds at BNS are devoted to the Three Sisters: Corn, Squash and Beans Plants.  These plants are called sisters by Native Americans, because they support each other's growth.  After listening to the Three Sisters Myth,  fourth graders were supported by a group of parent volunteers and their teachers as they harvested these plants' fruits and seeds;

tasted popcorn,squash soup, and green beans...

and  supported each other as they worked and learned... much like a family of sisters and brothers
