Maya Adobe Structure

Adobe making

Fifth Grade students built an adobe structure in the community garden on President and Van Brunt Streets. What could be more sustainable than using mud and straw and wooden stakes to make a shelter?

Pounding in stakes

Working on the front of the house (it has to be attached to the sides!)

Working on sides.

Almost done!

Amazing!  Thanks to Nancye Good for teaching our students Earth Living Skills.  Thanks to Nora Painten for allowing our students to use the Urban Community Garden on President and Van Brunt Streets.  Thanks to fifth grade teachers, Rachael , Jessica, Carrie, Antoinette, Nancy, Rachel, and Laurie for envisioning and making this project a reality.  (Photos were taken by Jessica and Rachael.) Thanks to the BNS Community.  As Marisol said:  "Anything is possible at BNS."
